How we worked with this German startup to quickly hire engineers to build an innovative product in the hospitality industry

About the Client

UpsellGuru is a SaaS platform that helps hotels upsell services and optimize the guest experience. The company is based in Germany and had a relatively small team when they started working with Remote Crew (under 10 people).

Problem

The business was growing and doing relatively well. But they needed to hire additional engineers, to keep up with demand and build the features necessary for their product. Hiring was not easy and - especially at the beginning of their venture - their network was essentially in Germany. It was hard to compete against large local companies domestically.


They had 2 problems to solve: 

  • Source qualified engineers for their hiring process
  • Employ these engineers locally

Solution

Daniel, one of our Senior Recruiters got in touch with the team at UpsellGuru and collected the requirements. 

Here’s the process we followed to solve their problem:

  1. Step #1: We filled out the Role Intake Document to properly understand what the team was looking for;
  2. Step #2: We published the role in our community, job board and some other local channels. We also reached out to some people in our network we know are qualified engineers and actively looking for opportunities.
  3. Step #3: We interviewed those candidates and wrote detailed notes of the interview. We provided a quick headline summary per candidate plus a more detailed breakdown of the experience and technical level.
  4. Step #4: We shared candidates with the UpsellGuru team. They went ahead and interviewed candidates and picked the ones they liked the most per batch.
  5. Step #5: We made offers to the selected candidates and employed them in our payroll - this was the option the team selected as the preferred way forward.

Result

UpsellGuru is now twice the size and multiple people from the engineering team
were hired by Remote Crew.
