We started Remote Crew because we wanted to find remote jobs. But it was borderline impossible. However, we knew some companies were hiring remotely - and complaining of how hard it was. We decided to help.

  • Engineering work requires focus. It takes a while for people to be “in the zone”. That’s easier outside the office.
  • Fewer interruptions = higher quality work.

People live their best lives when working remotely

  • Nobody likes commuting.
  • A little flexibility goes a long way to keep people happy and motivated.

Companies make better hires and retain them longer when they hire remotely

  • 100x larger talent pool = better hires. If you know what you’re doing.
  • Retention is higher because employers can offer better work-life integration and hire from less competitive geographies.
  • Both factors provide a huge competitive advantage.

It’s not all or nothing. Hybrid can work too.

  • While we believe remote-first is ideal (and it’s what we do internally), we know some people prefer to be in the office occasionally.
  • Sitting in the same room with other people can make work better in some ways. Onboarding can be faster. Brainstorming can be more fun. It’s easier to build deeper relationships with work colleagues.
  • Companies pay a price to keep an office: having to hire people within a 30km radius. But in some scenarios that price may be worth paying.
  • Working from home a few days / week is much better than working on-site every day. Especially if you’re a software engineer.
