A fast-growing global fintech company is on a mission to reshape B2B payments by building next-generation infrastructure. With a focus on performance, scale, and developer experience, they are expanding their engineering presence in Lisbon and looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to build and lead a new local team. Salary: up to €100k/year
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of core payment solutions in a fullstack environment
- Drive technical discussions and architectural decisions for new features and services
- Own the full software development lifecycle—from ideation to deployment and monitoring
- Actively contribute to the codebase (expect a 50/50 hands-on/leadership split)
- Define and implement RESTful APIs for seamless internal and external integrations
- Optimize system performance for low latency, high availability, and scalability
- Lead technical hiring efforts in Lisbon and mentor team members for growth and impact
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, security, and engineering culture
- Collaborate closely with product managers, design, and other engineering teams globally
- Stay ahead of industry trends and bring new ideas to improve tooling, performance, and developer experience
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ in a technical leadership role
- Strong experience with both backend and frontend technologies (e.g. TypeScript/Node.js, React, Postgres, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven ability to balance shipping fast with building reliable and maintainable systems
- Experience mentoring engineers and guiding teams toward high-impact outcomes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration
- Experience working in fintech, payments, or high-scale transactional platforms is a plus
- Comfortable recruiting, onboarding, and growing a team
